Twin Stroller Survey

I'm doing a completely unscientific survey.

My co-worker hit & split and is now expecting identical twin girls in June/July.

In retrospect (looking way back when on those sleep-deprived days of twinfancy), knowing what you know now (as a seasoned and oh-so-experienced parent of twins or more), would you have preferred to have received/purchased:

A)  a traditional dual inline stroller (does NOT accept car seats)

B)  a traditional dual side-by-side stroller (does NOT accept car seats)

C)  a snap-in car seat dual inline (accepts car seats, but can be used without)(example doesn't show car seats)
D)  a snap-in car seat dual side-by-side (accepts car seats, but can be used without)
OR

E)  a snap-in car seat inline AND a simpler side-by-side (for use once twinfants outgrow car seats)?
A baby shower gift hinges on your wisdom - thanks for your insight!

  1. We had "C" and once the girls could sit up, I always felt like the one in the back got the shaft. I'd rather have the "D" (you know, if I was crazy enough to be having twins again).

  2. This is a tough one. I LOVED my snap-n-go for when the boys were in their infant carriers. Super duper easy to use and the basket was large enough on the bottom for grocery shopping.

The inline ones I tried and had a hard time getting the car seats in and out without giving your baby shaking baby syndrome. I did buy one later though for use when they were out of their infant carriers.

The side by sides are nice....for specific things. I have one and used it at the mall once and only once. It is way too big to get through doors and aisles in the non mom friendly stores...(hence my reason for buying an inline one) but it is great for use outdoors.

I hope this helps, even if I did write a book!

  3. I say "C" worked the best for us when they were little and then later I moved to a side by side when we were in places that could accomidate the side by side. It was very difficulte to go shopping at the mall with the side by side and for that used the inline. I still remember onetime going to The Children's Place with the side by side and the manager had to sit with Matthew and Marissa at the door so I could go and buy what I needed because there was no way we were getting in there with it.

  4. We had C, but w/o the car seats. I loved it, but sometimes it was a little difficult steering. We knew it was time to let this stroller go once our boys were old enough to start kicking the other one in the back.

  5. I say "E". I used my snap n go all the time when they were infants. It made it possible for me to get out and not feel like it was a huge ordeal. I really loved it. I now have a side by side jogger and use it all the time. My girls are two and I am so glad that I purchased it. Most of our outings are on the street, zoo, and canal, but I do take it to the mall and stores. I get through doors and aisles just fine. Yes it takes a little skill..haha, but if you have a front and back it takes some wide turns. I personally picked mine based on where I would use it most and that was outdoors for me. good luck:)

Ok - I need the all of the above, Suz! I was a stroller "whore" and had one for every occasion and stage (except the quad side-by-side that was too expensive 2nd hand for the limited time I would use it)! LOL But as you know, I WAS crazy enough to have twins again! We got all but one as either a gift or gently used from these wonderful multiple connections. I guess my "official" answer as a shower gift would be a good quality snap-and-go (preassembled)and side-by-side (no car seat attachments) combo, answer E. Side-by-sides won't fit everywhere, but are so nice to have for the easy access to large basket space. Twins can see better, too. Snap-n-go is so easy until they grow out of it. If the expecting mommy finds that she needs a tandem stroller after the snap-n-go, they are easy to find second-hand.

  7. E without a doubt!!! I met a stroller guru before the boys were born and he told me that I should do E but that I would probably do C because he knew I didn't want to buy mutliple strollers. In the end, I bought C then borrowed a friend's snap 'n go when I had to fly with the boys and realized HOW MUCH EASIER it was to use. I ended up buying the snap n go from her and then went back to C when the boys were out of their infant carseats. By then, however, they figured out that the one in the back could kick the one in the front and that was the end of C. We ended up buying the other E stroller and have been happy with that - except now the boys refuse to ride in any stroller and I bring the wagon with me everywhere.

  8. We did "E". I loved loved my double snap n go, which by the way I am trying to sell! It was so easy for me to get my girls in and out of the car by myself. The snap n go is compact when it folds. The basket is HUGE!

After my girls out grew their car seats we purchased the Chicco side by side stroller which we still use. I love this stroller too! It fits through doors. Folds compact and the seats recline for naps. You don't have to put things togther or take it apart to fold it. It is durable and I have had no problems with it. We also bought 2 Mclaren single strollers for when Anthony and I our out together. It makes getting around much easier and stops the "Aw" are they twins and the non-stop questions! I had a Combi stroller with Joey and it was not very durable for the money I paid and the company was difficult to deal with when it needed repaired.

Hope that helps! Congratulations to your friend!

  9. D looks awesome. I went with B and liked it well enough... I had no trouble with the size of my side-by-side (Combi Twin Savvy) so if I'd had the option of D I think I would have chosen that.

  10. If I had to do it over again I would probably go with C. I had enough trouble getting through stores with our inline to consider a side by side. I like that you can use car seats with C, I like getting the most bang for my buck!

  11. We had triplets so the side by side was out. We loved the Graco DuoGlider for when we were traveling with a double and single stroller instead of the triplet stroller. However, we did get use a side by side at disney world (you can rent and have them delivered to your hotel), I believe it was a city metro or something like that. I loved it.
Of these options for twins, I would go with C.

  12. D- which we had but at the time, the Zooper didn't have the snap-in car seat option. They were fine in it as infants (they laid down; full reclining seats) and then they really loved it as toddlers. And no arguments about who sat where. I'd still do this one(Zooper Tango)in a heart beat. Loved it! ~Emily

  13. We also used "C" in conjunction with a single for the triplets. If we could do things differently, would have opted for "D". Our triplets are officially 3 today, and we haven't used the Graco strollers for nearly a year. We invested in a triple side-by-side jogging stroller (can't take it shopping). I prefer to shop alone anyway!

  14. B-Because other than the big double side by side, there wasn't any other strollers in 1988! Wish they had the carseat/stroller combo back then!

  15. I would have to say E. Having something lightweight to hook seats in when they're small is the best, but then a side by side when they're bigger is great so that you don't feel one has a better seat than the other.

  16. Defniitely C. Our girls are 3 now and we still love how easy a front/back is to use and when they are infants you can't go wrong with one that you can snap the carrier into. We have the Graco Quattro Tour Duo and it is fabulous and comes in modern patterns/colors.

  17. I liked the inline (choice C) one because the width of the doors I was trying to get through. My stroller could also turn the front seat around to face the other kid. I found that exceptionally helpful for my kids.

  18. I vote for "D"!

We have both the inline like "C" which was great for going to the Dr's office by myself every week for 12 wks.

And we have a jogging stroller, 4 -wheeled like "D" side by side (didn't accept infant car seats). This is great once they can sit up. It is really nice that they can both see what's going on and it is rugged to take to outdoor events, parks, etc.

If I had known that you could buy option "D" (accepts infant seats) then we would have only needed to buy one stroller!

  19. I used the Graco style one, loved it! I've heard amazing things about the snap-n-go too, those are usually the first to go at our consignment sale.

  21. I bought the traditional Graco (C I think) and loved it .. although I'm short and thought it was hard to push, but I also bought a single Snap and Go so that when I went somewhere with just 1 baby I wouldn't have to lug around the big stroller.

And, then later I bought a plain single stroller for the same reason. Now, we have a Sit and Stand by Joovy which I love. Yeah, I'm stroller crazy!

  22. We had B! we used a Zooper Tango because it fit thru all doors and my kids did not fair well with the ability to kick the one in front. LOL

  23. C was a life saver for me. I used it all the time w/ my older set and still use it w/ my younger set. I also have a side by side that I use on walks and at the zoo, but the in line is best for any kind of shopping or errands and is nice that you can snap in when they are little and still use when they are 2 yrs old, like me!

  24. Choice "C" gave us GREAT "bang for our buck". Used from infancy to pre-school age and was easy to get through many tight spaces.

  25. I'd pick C. I have the stroller you picked for A (Kolcraft Contours Tandem) and it does carry car seats. The regular seats are removable. It comes with one attachment for the car seat and you can buy a second for very little money. I LOVE that stroller. It has great maneuverability, folds up small, is inexpensive as far as double strollers go, and can be used for years. I can stress how well this stroller turns and moves compared to most tandem double strollers.
